When News comes to FM in India, RCSnews is already there
Mumbai -- 2 June 2007– On the occasion of the India Radio Forum, RCS India introduced the latest version of its news editing software. RCSnews is a state-of-the-art radio newsroom system, providing solutions for the entire news operation from news gathering, writing and editing to actual on-air broadcast and story archiving.
This comprehensive, standalone newsroom software enables reporters to write newscasts, receive and revise wire copy and digitally record, edit and playback audio. With RCSnews as the backbone of a news department, Virtual Newsrooms can be created for every writer, reporter and editor, arranged with customizable filing systems, archives and organizational structure. This increases workstation speed and story-creation productivity, thus improving workplace efficiency in each person's custom newsroom.
Scaleable from giant to tiny newsroom
Because all radio departments have different needs, RCSnews is completely scaleable from large network news operations to single station news "closets," RCSnews can be configured to adapt perfectly for any of these environments:
• Network news: Server-based system creating and serving all newscasts simultaneously to affiliates as a typical network “one to many†scenario
• Peer-to-peer newsroom: Enterprise-wide deployment for sharing stories, audio and complete reports among multiple stations, cities, regions or countries
• The Outpost: stand-alone, single-operator system for one newsroom, one station or one journalist.
As Jaideep Banerjee, Program Director of Friends 91.9FM in Kolkata, remarked after seeing the software, "This is very timely. Even though news is not allowed on FM stations yet, anybody who familiarizes themselves with this system now, and with the processes relating to it, has a jump on the competition, once the government gives the green light."
Mike Powell, RCS Vice President International, whose panel on originality in radio in the opinion of many attendees was the highlight of the conference, suggests, "News is what makes radio local. And any really successful radio station anywhere in the world has a strong local presence. With RCSnews being local becomes easier, because it makes news production and presentation easier."
And Shirshendu Bannerjee, head of the radio division of Mediaguru Consultants, added: "Some program directors make the mistake of thinking they have this issue already wrapped up because they have a news department for their print medium to fall back on. That could be a big mistake. News for radio and print news are two completely different animals."
For the introductory period of its new software, RCS India offers a free trial period to radio stations and news related operations. Contact RCS for further details.
